Salt & Gorse was founded on the Cornish coast and Cornwall is where we do most of our thinking. Its pace, its rawness and the particular quality of its light inform how we see, how we plan shoots and what ends up in the edit.

Over the years we have produced national and international campaigns from here — for Dove, Sounder Golf, Rubicon Raw, Love of Lemons, Man Down Cornwall, Cornwall Hospice Care and others. Brands that came to us not despite us being based in Cornwall, but partly because of it. The locations are part of what we offer. So is the knowledge of how to use them.

We know which beach catches the right light in January. We know the golf courses, the surf breaks, the harbours and the moorland tracks. We have contacts across the county for local crew, talent, catering and permissions. When you work with us in Cornwall, you are working with people who know the place.

Understanding Cornwall's light, its locations, its access logistics and its swell windows comes from working here consistently, not from a visit. We know which spots are right for which briefs, which months give the best conditions for different kinds of content, and which local crew and facilities will serve your production well. That knowledge saves time, reduces risk and produces better work.
Cornwall has more variety within a small area than most people expect. Atlantic surf beaches and cliffs along the north coast. Sheltered harbours and coves to the south. Open moorland, ancient granite landscapes and quiet countryside inland. And specific locations with established associations: Fistral Beach for surf, Perranporth and Trevose for links golf, St Ives for fashion and lifestyle. We have filmed across all of these and know them well enough to recommend the right one for any brief.
Yes. We manage location agreements, landowner permissions and council permits as part of our production process. For National Trust locations, beach access, drone permissions and MOD land, we handle the relevant applications as standard. You do not need to organise this separately.
Yes. We have a network of experienced crew across Cornwall and the wider South West — cinematographers, camera assistants, sound recordists, gaffers and specialist operators including drone and underwater. For productions that need it, we can also bring crew from London and beyond. We always build the right team for the work, not the most convenient one for us.
We work with outdoor, sport and lifestyle brands, surf and ocean brands, fashion labels, golf brands, drinks and food companies, and charities. The common thread is not the sector but the ambition to make work people genuinely care about. If your brand has something worth saying, Cornwall is an excellent place to say it.
Regularly. We are based in Cornwall and our knowledge of the county is a genuine asset on the right projects. But we work nationally across the UK and internationally for the right brief. Our surf work has taken us to California, France, Portugal, Bali and Australia. Location is not a constraint.
It depends on the scope: crew size, number of shoot days, locations, travel and what the brief needs to deliver. Most of our commercial work starts from around £8,000 and scales depending on the brief. We are always direct about what is achievable within your budget. The best place to start is a conversation — book a call and we will give you an honest picture of what we can make together.
Yes. Many of our clients arrive without a fully formed concept and creative development is central to how we work. From initial treatment and location scouting through to casting, styling and shoot planning, we are equipped to take a brief from feeling to final frame. If you come to us with a loose idea or just a sense of what you want the work to feel like, that is a perfectly good starting point.
